UX Improvement: Swap primary action button for pattern creation (Open in Editor instead of Download PDF)
Could you please consider changing the default primary action button after creating a pattern from an image? In 99.9% of cases, the generated pattern requires adjustments in the Edit mode. Right now, the main button is set to "Download PDF", which frequently causes me to click the wrong one by mistake. This forces me to go back through the menu, which disrupts my workflow and is quite inconvenient. Would it be possible to make "Open in Editor" the primary/main button instead of "Download PDF"?
Restore right-click context menu for thread color deletion
Could you please restore the ability to edit or delete thread colors with a right-click? Currently, this function is hidden under the Edit menu, which adds extra steps and slows down the workflow. Having a quick option to delete a color directly via the right-click context menu was much faster and more intuitive.
Ability to Rotate and Crop Reference Image
It would make it so much easier to be able to splice together ideas and trace when needed for different elements
Align pattern to top-left corner of the page
Hi! Right now, the pattern is placed right in the center of the page, which leaves huge empty spaces at the top and sides. Could you please update it so that the header and the pattern grid are aligned to the top-left corner of the page (with standard margins from the edges)? All remaining whitespace should stay below and to the right of the pattern. This should apply to both the page view and the generated/exported PDF.
Sliding Thread view in Progress
It feels odd that as I mark stitches in Progress, the number of stitches left counts down and the thread moves down the list, but the view doesn’t follow it. I feel like the thread list should scroll to keep the chosen thread in view.
Feature Request: Export Language Settings and OXS ZIP Bundle Support
Hi! I have two feature requests that would make the app even more useful. 1. Language settings for the Export feature Could you add a language selection option to the Export settings, allowing users to choose languages such as Spanish, German, French, and others? I tried changing the language to Spanish, but the Export page still appears in English. It would be great if the language setting also applied to the entire Export page, including its menus, buttons, labels, and other interface elements. 2. Include OXS files in ZIP bundles Would it be possible to include the OXS file format as an option when exporting a ZIP bundle? This would allow users to download the PDF patterns and their corresponding OXS files together in a single ZIP file, making it much more convenient for customers who use apps such as Cross Stitch Saga. Thank you for considering these suggestions! I really appreciate your work on improving the app.
Thread key - comments below the table
Dmitrii, from a UX perspective, it makes more sense to place comments below the table. This follows the natural reading flow (data first, commentary second) and prevents primary information from being pushed down off-screen.
Add page-specific (filtered) color legends for multi-page patterns
Feature Idea: It would be great to have a compact color legend on each page of the pattern. Ideally, this legend should be dynamic and only include the colors/symbols that actually appear on that specific page, rather than showing the full palette every time.
Allow 2 quarter stitches in same square
Currently if I try to place 2 quarter stitches into the same square, the new color will erase the old one. However, the 2 quarter stitches should be allowed to exist in the same square, because they’re not actually overlapping, just forming a diagonal.
Pull and Push All buttons to sync offline and online.
A button to sync all the patterns up or down at once. Similarly, updating the one file on my computer, rather than creating a new copy each time I download to edit.
Tracking threads in stash from Progress Tracker.
I would like to be able to see at a glance which threads I do and do not have in my stash while I am working. I do not yet have every colour I use, and so seeing what the next colour I do have, or need to go buy, without needing to switch back to the editor and checking one by one would be very useful. Maybe a small green or red dot somewhere on each thread panel. Or even more, a yellow dot to indicate that my current project will use more thread than I have marked in my stash. I can imagine the stash amounts getting auto-updated as progress is marked, as well. Thanks very much!
Export Option for Charts Both With and Without Backstitch
Currently, Stitchmate allows exporting either: a chart with backstitch, or a chart without backstitch plus a separate backstitch-only page. I would like an option to export both: the complete chart with backstitch, and the complete chart without backstitch. A backstitch-only page is not very useful on its own and is inconvenient to follow. Having two complete chart versions would make the pattern much easier to read and use. Thank you in advance!
Improve symbol library and auto-assignment algorithm
Visual Distinctiveness of Symbols Currently, symbols seem to be auto-assigned sequentially from an existing list. However, many current symbols are too blocky/angular and tend to blend together when placed next to each other on the grid, making the chart hard to read. Suggested Fix: • Update the symbol palette with shapes that are visually distinct in form and contrast (e.g., ⏹︎ ★ ◉ ✦ ▲ ⏺︎ ♥︎ ☽ ▼ ✿ ⮕ ⊠ ◎ ◒ ◆ ✖ ✪). • Ensure neighboring colors are assigned contrasting symbol shapes to maximize readability. Also, a quick heads-up on content sensitivity: one of the current symbols is the Balkenkreuz (the German military cross). This could be sensitive or offensive to some users.
Option to export specific pages/sections without the pattern grid
Could you please add an option to download individual pages without the main pattern grid? For example, sometimes users just need to export the Color Legend or the Instructions separately. It would be awesome if we could select/unselect sections before downloading (like toggling pattern off and leaving only legend/instructions). Thanks!
Include Chart Layout settings in PDF Presets
Could you please add the ability to save Chart Layout settings inside PDF Presets? For example: • Preset_1: Entire pattern on 1 page • Preset_2: Pattern split across 4 pages Currently, Chart Layout settings aren't stored within presets, so I have to reconfigure them manually every time. Saving these parameters along with the preset would make the export workflow much smoother.
❗Please bring back the option to download the entire pattern on a single PDF page!
The previous version of this feature had issues: the pattern was rendered at its actual size, which meant that for small patterns, the page itself became tiny and the text/legend didn't fit properly. I recommend looking at how Stitch Fiddle handles this: they allow the entire pattern to be displayed on a single page regardless of its actual stitch count, the grid simply scales to fit a standard page size. This is incredibly convenient for users who work directly from a tablet or phone.
API requests
Hello, there's a problem regarding development and usage suggestions. Will a quick and bulk usage feature be added via API in the future? If patterns can be created via API requests, it could see more commercial demand.
Maintaining original colors
In uploading pixel art, I’ve had a hard time sometimes maintaining the original colors. They don’t look especially close to the eye (e.g. shades of gray), but end up getting merged for my pattern when uploading. The side bar shows what I think is the correct number of original colors (11), but then a higher number in the middle (28) and fewer colors to edit (7 - this is how many end up in the pattern)- is there a way to force them into separate colors in the app so I can assign colors I want and merge manually ones I don’t?
